There’s nothing better than hickory wood flooring to give your home a true touch of distinction. Whether you like a contemporary look or prefer the ‘log-cabin’ feel, hickory hardwood flooring achieves a truly authentic look.
Popular in kitchen cabinetry, hickory is known for its distinctive look and sharp contrast of light and dark colours. The sapwood is white, while the heartwood varies from pale brown to a warm reddish brown in colour.
Hickory hardwood floors come in two grades: Select Grade hardwood hickory and Country Grade hardwood hickory.
- Select Grade hardwood hickory
has fewer knots than Country Grade hardwood hickory and is particularly graded to have subtle variations of light and dark brown coloring throughout its flowing grain structure. Though typically straight grained, this grade of hickory may also be wavy or irregular and has a rather coarse texture. If you’re interested in a more contemporary look and feel then Select Grade hardwood hickory is the way to go.
- Country Grade hardwood hickory
is graded to create something more like exotic hardwood flooring. The boards are carefully selected for the beautiful natural character of the timber. Its often hand graded to find planks with knots and greater contrasts between light and dark coloring, giving a glimpse into the life of the tree and resulting in an authentic antique appearance.
Aside from its natural beauty, hickory hardwood flooring is also an excellent choice because of its hardness and durability. Hickory wood flooring is high density, flexible and very resilient, so it’s able to stand up to centuries of wear.
If your intention is to be the proud owner of a truly eye-catching, stylish hardwood floor, then hickory hardwood flooring is certainly an excellent choice. |
